Global Filters

Global Filters help customers narrow their search by the services, certifications, business types, and other information you assign to your stores. Once you’ve created a filter category and its values, you can apply them to any store in your locator.

Access Global Filters

Add a Global Filter #

Click Add New to create a new global filter.

Adding a global filter has two steps:

Step 1: Properties

Start by giving your filter category a name.

  • Global Filter Name – Enter a name for the filter category, such as Services, Certifications, or Business Type.
  • Featured Global Filter – Turn this option On if you want to highlight this filter category in your store locator.
🗒️ Note: Only one Global Filter can be featured at a time. If another filter is already featured, you’ll be asked if you want to replace it.

If another filter is already featured, a confirmation message will appear. Click Yes, Proceed to replace it, or No, Cancel to keep the current featured filter.

Step 2: Build Your Global Filter Values:

Next, open the Build Your Global Filter Values tab to add the options customers can choose from when using this filter.

For example, if your filter category is Services, you might add values such as Installation, Repair, or Delivery.

To add filter values:

  1. Enter a value in the Global Filter Values field.
  2. Click Add Filter Value.
  3. Repeat these steps until you’ve added all the values you need.

As you add values, they’ll appear in the list on the right. From there, you can:

  • Rename value by clicking Edit, make the necessary change/s, then click Update.
  • Reorder values by dragging this icon the order you want.
  • Delete a value by clicking Delete
⚠️ Important: Deleting a filter value can’t be undone. Make sure you no longer need it before clicking Delete.
💡 Tip: Click Preview to see how the featured filter may appear in your store locator before saving.

Click Save to create your global filter.

A confirmation message will appear once your global filter has been created.

Edit a Global Filter & Filter Values #

  1. On the Global Filters page, find the filter you want to update.
  2. Click   Edit.
  3. You’ll be taken back to the Properties and Build Your Global Filter Values steps, where you can make the changes you need.
  4. Click Update to save your changes.

Enable or Disable a Global Filter #

  1. On the Global Filters page, find the filter you want to update.
  2. In the Visibility column, click the toggle:
    • On – The global filter appears in your store locator, where customers can see and use it.
    • Off – The global filter is hidden from your store locator and isn’t visible to customers.
  3. A confirmation message will appear after your change is saved.
🗒️ Note: Disabling a global filter is useful if you want to hide it temporarily while keeping your filter category and values for future use.

A featured Global Filter highlights an important filter category on your store locator, making it easier for customers to notice the information associated with it on store result cards.

💡 Tip: Click Preview to see how a featured filter appears in your store locator before making your changes.
  1. On the Global Filters page, click Edit for the filter you want to feature.
  2. Open the 1. Properties tab.
  3. Turn Featured Global Filter on.
  4. If another filter is already featured, click Yes, Proceed to replace it.
  5. Click Update.

Once saved, the featured filter:

  • Appears in orange font in the filter list.
  • Moves to the top of the table.
  • Is highlighted on store result cards in your store locator.
🗒️ Note: Only one Global Filter can be featured at a time. If you feature a different filter, the previous featured filter loses its highlighted position and the new filter becomes the featured one. The highlight color shown to customers follows your store locator’s accent color, which you can set in the Design tab.

Sort Global Filters #

By default, global filters are listed in ascending alphabetical order (A → Z).

To change the order:

  1. Go to the Global Filters page.
  2. On the Global Filters page, click the Filter Category ↑↓ column heading.
  3. Each click switches between:
    • Ascending (A → Z)
    • Descending (Z → A)

The list starts in ascending order, so the first click changes it to descending. Continue clicking the column heading to switch between the two sort orders.

🗒️ Note:
  • Sorting only changes how filters are displayed in eLocate. It doesn’t change how customers see filters in your store locator.
  • Only non-featured filters are sorted. The featured global filter always stays at the top of the list, regardless of the sort order.

Delete a Global Filter #

If you want to remove a filter category (Global Filter):

  1. On the Global Filters page, find the category you want to delete.
  2. Click Delete.

If the filter is already assigned to one or more stores, you’ll see a confirmation message before it can be deleted.

Click Yes, Proceed to delete the filter, or No, Cancel to keep it.

⚠️ Important: Deleting a global filter permanently removes the filter category and all of its values from every store where it’s currently used.
